Caterhams are available in both pre-assembled form and kit-car form.

Atom is purely a production car.

yea exactly, i mean what would that single welder at ariel do if they were sold as kit cars

well, drivers are different so time doesn't matter. + I dont think Top Gear were shooting that.

I'm pretty sure the Stig wasn't driving the CCX either.

I can't find the shot now, but shortly after the CCX took the lap record, there was a photo of The Stig shaking hands with Christian Von Koenigsegg. in the shot the Stig was easily as tall, and Christian is a big man. the regular Stig is pretty small, leading to pretty believeable speculation that it was koenigsegg's test driver drove the lap in stig clothes. Especialyl after the regular Stig crashed the first one at the beginning of the series.

They already put a kit car round the track back in season 1 ep 3. It was a Westfield. Maybe someone has that ep kicking about so we can check the time? Because I think it got dropped from the lap board. It was the old stig of course.
