The "New Toys" Thread

Just got my el cheapo HDMI cables today for my new TV. Yay, I finally joined the 21st century, HD is a bajillion times nicer than SD. So we ordered three hdmi cables online for $6 per cable versus $35 per cable at every single store in town. I have my trusty old computer hooked up right now, tiny text is tiny, other than that it's pretty awesome.

^ What brand cables did you get? I didn't go ultra cheap... picked up some sort of premiere JVC cables from craigslist.

What resolution are you running at? On 1080i I can read everything on my screen... mind you I stand right in front of my TV. I wouldn't see shit off the couch that's 8 feet away.

Sagging economy? Spend an assload of money!

Oh man, you have to get New Super Mario Bros. It's one of the best side-scrolling Mario games ever, with some added 3D effects. Or better yet, buy a modchip (e.g. R4DS) and use all those backups you must have on your computer. ;)

Did you get the DS Lite? I heard there's a new DS coming that's smaller with bigger screens and better battery life.

The DSi is the same size with bigger screens and a camera according to what I have heard.

:james: <-- my unamused face at hearing there is a new model coming out soon.

It doesn't seem to offer much, certainly not a big upgrade like the NDS -> NDS Lite.

Plus, if you had that the modchips I mentioned above wouldn't work. I'm sure they will come out, but the current ones won't work. :D

needed a new mouse (non-gaming)

Arrived yesterday, very good to use.

am I weird in wanting a non wireless mouse? All of the mice I use have wires, and they all work...unlike any of the wireless mice I tried

Maybe I need to study a bit more to be more geeky

Nah, I also dislike the weight, the recharching and the thought of adding yet another toxic battery to the growing waste belt. And there's enough wireless signals going through my nuts already.

Nope. Wired only for me too!

I've owned a bunch of wireless mice, never had trouble. But if you skim, you'll get trash. This one isn't for gaming, so I'm not worried if its not ultra quick, tho I think it is.

My gaming mouse is a old'ish MX1000 that seems to do just fine.

1) Li-On batteries
2) Dock to charge at night, never runs out
3) Very light cause newer battery based ones take 1 AAA
4) Haven't we got enough usb/wired based devices!

Same here though. I've had 2 wireless mice, and both gave up after a while. And not crap brands either, logitech and microsoft.

So now I got my G5.
