Random Thoughts... [Automotive Edition]

You immediately associate white with Pearl Habor?

I don't immediately associate with the French, as (impending stereotype alert!) you might :p. I've just had the idea for a long time now of getting a white Japanese sports car (a Mitsubishi, to be historically accurate) and occasionally putting red circles on the side if I'm going to some automotive event. Bonus points if I'm chasing down Mustangs, though that could turn out badly for me.

That's the greatest idea EVAR, though there weren't terribly many Mustangs in the Pacific.

Yeah, I'd have to take quite a few historical liberties with a lot of the parallels. For example, I can't think of a single road car with a centrifugally supercharged V-12, and if you want to get truly pedantic, the closest thing to a modern equivalent of a P-51D Mustang (American chassis, British-designed but American-built engine) would be a V-8 Lincoln LS, and preferably supercharged like http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2549004 . I first got this idea when I saw those USA Trucks with the USAF logo on the sides, and thought it'd be great to see camo-green AMG Mercs (V12 or supercharged, either way) and BMWs duking it out with blown Mustangs escorting those trucks, using hood- or wing-mounted paintball guns. WWII-themed rally ftw.

Damn and blast! I'm back in Bulgaria, away from my beloved Volvo, and I think I just figured out the culprit of a clunking noise that has been annoying me for a month. I think it's the right side hood latch being loose. I can't wait to come back in January and test whether I'm right.

If you do an American WWII themed car, it has to have a nose art:

doen't have to be a girl, not all of 'em were. it does have to be awesome though.

Unless its a Navy/Marines Theme. then its gotta be two-tone, Navy blue from about the middle of the doors up, fade to light sky blue below that. no nose art, Navy didnt allow it, but you can make up for that with awesome lettering and numbers all over.

Having a Mustang car painted like a P-51 is actually something i've been daydreaming about for a long time now >.>

I just realized that my X-Terra has 1 inch more ground clearance than our FJ80 Land Cruiser.

That's not gone well.

And modern Land Cruisers have less than the FJ80 did, IIRC. IMHO, another support for the theory that Toyota has lost the plot for offroaders.

I wonder if you can do the same sort of "jaaaaag" parlance, but apply it to Saabs.

"I must have left my novel of Sartes in my SAAAAAB."

"Like my tweed? It feels great when driving my SAAAAAB."

"Off to teach English; might as well fire up the SAAAAAAB."

"My life partner, as I call my wife, went to buy some primitive art jewelry. She took the SAAAAB."
:dunno:

:hmm: Now that I think of it, all those silly asses now drive Priuses and Legacy Outbacks.

Where do you see a 328? All I see (if we're talking Ferraris here) are a F430, a 308, a California, and a F355 (or 348 :dunno:).

Its a 328 not a 308.
