I work at a school and this week's a school-holiday, so there's noone there except support staff (= including poor little old me). So there is noone who calls or mails the helpdesk and i'm stuck here bored to death.

Your school bothers to have a full time, even during the holidays, helpdesk. That is unusual.

IIRC they show the number of mines in boxes adjacent to that box.

Been a while since I played though, and I now have a Mac that has better games... (like Pages and Calculator... ooooo and Chess!)

Those numbers are the number of mines that are directly around the block with that number.
So the marked mine in this picture has to be a mine, since the numbers say there is 1 mine.

Oh Please. The graphis of the game are pathetic (Not even Shader Model 3.0). And the multiplayer mode is uber lame. Worst game evar!
