Police Vehicles

Victoria Police's new High Visibility Highway Patrol Units:

Nice livery, the Sth Australian versions don't look nearly as sexy. Those VEs are a marked improvement on the ugly yellow or blue cars you used to have anyway.

Whats with the redneck flag in the logo though? Victorians, huh:p

Victoria Police's new High Visibility Highway Patrol Units:

Awesome. Just awesome. Coming to a highway near you. Probably see one outside my work (Nepean Hwy)

They like their vinyls don't they?!

Our coppers are a big on a visible presence (pity the Govt prefers speed cameras over actual Police Patrols) so honestly, if you get stung by one of these and claim you didn't see it, then you're blind.

Wish some of our cops were as conspicuous. I saw this today at an emergency scene.

The cop said they had gotten "a couple of them" last year and where trying them out. He wasn't sure what the official verdict was by the Department, but I think he liked it.

^Wow. That's seriously unmarked. Our guys have big lights on the parcel shelf and lights on the passenger sun visor that they fold down (and of course the head/tail lights flash). They're pretty easy to spot, even when the lights aren't going! Also the three antennae on the rear window kind of give it away.

Agreed, even by American standards it's almost invisible. Almost all unmarked cars I see are Crown Vics (clue #1) with loads of antennae on the top (clue #2) and tinted windows (clue #3) and are doing 90 in the middle lane (clue #4). Nobody buys Crown Vics for civilian use, except clueless old people and weird guys who want to roll in black FBI cars, like me. Those cars you can usually tell are driven by geezers.

If I saw that Charger pulling me over I would probably start hyperventilating.

Does the other side of the car have THE LEFT on it so that you Vics know what side of the car you are on?? :D

Man, do I feel dumb. That's gone right over my head. And I've re-read it numerous times!

lol, Whenever they're crown vics around people always slow down. At night I always mix them up with cabs because we got a lot of crown vic cabs here and they have taxi thing on the roof so from far it looks a bit like a siren.

I'd be nervous too though because usually you can tell when a car is "unmarked". But that just looks like a tinted charger pulling you over. Then again, I guess anyone could paint their car to look like a cop and buy all the gear and impersonate a cop.

I dunno, in the last two years or so I've seen all those big antennae practically disapear on interceptors/patrol cars. I guess technology is finally downsizing/eliminating some of the radio equipment. The Charger was clean as a whistle to this end, hell I would've never guessed it was official unless I'd seen the lights or the cop himself. Now that I know they're there, I won't be suspicious if they pull me over. Otherwise I'd be "WTF?!? Is this guy real?!?":-o

Note: On the second to last pic, you can see two "regular" interceptors in the background to the left. One unmarked the other what you would expect. The Charger is sure a departure from these.

yeah yeah yeah.

At least we still have some drinking water here. And at least ours doesn't taste like dishwater:p

I think you are thinking of Queensland there. Our's tastes like the dying Murray.

Does anyone have a photo of the SA Police Mitsubish 380 Escort cars?? I saw them again today and they actually look really good. They are used to escort large loads instead of the bikes.

i seen em as well, i believe it cost cutting, having an escort department means you dont tie up cop car or bikes, i also heard they arnt actual cops.
