I Know this should be in entertainment, but no-one looks there anyway (if any mod disagrees, please feel free to move this thread...)

What are your 5 favourite Sci-Fi films, based on whatever you think a Sci-Fi film should be like...

Here we go... my top 5

5. Dune 1984
4. Matrix
3. Transformers
2. Starwars IV
1. Serenity

I'm not going to leave myself open to (too much) critisism by leaving it like that...

Come on, let me know what your favourites are... (then I can watch them too and possibly change my top 5 :) )

My Top Five:

5. Starwars V
4. Forbidden Planet
3. A.I.
2. 2001
1. Blade Runner

Right now I may be a bit biased because I saw Blade Runner in the big screen a couple of weeks ago, but definitely those are in my top 5, which usually features about 20-30 films :)

5. Serenity
4. Blade Runner
3. Matrix
2. Alien
1. Aliens

Ooooh, Aliens...

I forgot that one, I must admit that the 1st time I saw it was on video with a few mates and some Vodka, It was a good night...

I still stand by my choices though.

Man, this is tough.

Dune Miniseries (Sci-fi Channel, very well done)
Gattaca
Dark City
La Cit? des enfants perdus (Does this even count?)
Star Trek: First Contact (yes, even though it had time travel)

Besides the obvious Star Trek/Star Wars I'm throwing in a couple others:

Mission to Mars - I love this one! It has elements of sci-fi but it's also believable enough to make it interesting.
The Time Machine - The original is great and the modern remake was surprisingly good.
Event Horizon - Sci fi and spooky at the same time, although I have to admit it's not the best movie ever made.
Back to the Future - Need I say more?

And the grand champion:
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians - The title says it all. Low-budget sci fi at it's best!

Bollox... I forgot Blade runner...

5. Dune 1984
4. Transformers
3. Starwars IV
2. Blade Runner
1. Serenity...

Deleted the matrix because I can :)

5. 2001 A Space Odyssey
4. Terminator 2
3. StarWars
2. The Abyss
1. Aliens

1. Star Wars, collectively
2. Ghost in the Shell / Innocence
3. Macross
4. Placeholder for when they release the Blame! movie
5. Gurren-Lagann
