Yeah, I never would have guessed wool. I was thinking string or yarn, but then again, I don't know jack about sewing, etc.

I think we seriously need a clue for this one. Considering I also don't know who that guy is.
 
The guy was a star in the Hammer Horror series of films with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, and like Lee also once played a Bond villain. I'll put up another clue if that isn't enough.
