Shiny new rim is shiny. Also winter tyres are gone, summers back on. Makes quite a difference in noise, and dat feel!

Otherwise not much new to report

Not much new to report, with temperatures going up the range has increased drastically, giving me around 18 kwh/100 kms over 350 kms (mainly highway) with 4 people, 2 dogs, a metric buttload of luggage and 2 bikes on the towbar. So thats noice.

Also more BMS weirdness, I set it to stop charging at 90%, which it did, but the next day when I started it I had an extra 3% all of a sudden? I understand that better temperatures gives me more range with that same 90% but I can’t win kwh doing nothing?

Only just noticed this after 72k kms(or maybe I had forgotten, but still)

+ means more speed
- means less speed

Silly yet true

I guess they saw what VW was doing with the ⏸️ and ▶️ on the ID but couldn’t do a knockoff.

Or maybe Kia was first?

... and I am very certain that some product design working group spent countless hours on coming up with that completely irrelevant bullshit and celebrated themselves for it no end :|

Maybe. Having it take me 2 years and 70k kms to notice must mean they didn’t do a good job, I guess?

I did know the VWs had this but not my own car? To be honest it is a lot more noticable in the VWs

So it CAN do (nearly) 500 kms on one charge. The trick is to not exceed 100 km/hr on the motorway and also having good weather/temperatures. As expected it was booooooring though

Also, hot weather + fastcharging means it needs battery cooling, which costs 100 watts of power according to this graph. Thats extremely low compared to the 5-6kw it takes to heat up the battery in winter

🥶

There’s a new/facelifted EV6 and I’m not a fan.

Those eyelid thingies work on a square car like the ev9 but not with the swoopy lines of the ev6 IMO

Also, dem rims are 🤢.

Still, a slightly nicer interior and slightly bigger battery are nice though (84 kwh as opposed to 78 kwh)

Agreed on both. Also somehow looks much FATTER now like it’s an SUV all of a sudden?

Re: battery. My next car will most probably have a smaller battery… weird, right? 🤪 so because of my excursions so far, I can confidently say battery size is overrated*.

* provided it is above a certain minimum, the car is efficient and charging speeds are good (and those are also overrated**)

** same as for battery size: as long as a certain minimum and efficiency are provided.

Speaking of: I may have a model 3 highland test drive scheduled tomorrow…

Agreed. Battery size in itself is pointless, Id gladly take a smaller but more efficient battery since the range will be roughly the same and you spend less time charging it.

400-500 kms (4-6 hrs driving) is the sweet spot where I’m tired/bored anyways
