Race Driver: GRID

Yeah, you can analogue steering and pressure sensitive buttons on the PS3.

On another forum someone asked for pics, so I took a few pics. I'll post it here too. :D

Yeah, I downloaded the demo on my PS3 before it came out for PC. ;)

Anyone wanna help me drift? I can't get any points... i'm always getting like 3000 points for my drifts.... going at about 55mph.

You need to initiate the drift at over 50mph, then you can drop below that and still get points as long as you don't exit the drift. You have a second or so to initiate another drift in order to keep your combo, but you can just pull the handbrake a little bit so the car just starts sliding, then it'll count. I'm not explaining this very well, I'll post up a video later, that should help more.

The control for PC sucks though, only digital inputs (unless you use wheels).

Or a 360 controller on PC. Then it plays identical to the 360 version: pressure sensitive throttle and steering.

I only started using the handbrake to correct drifts, like when I was a bit too fast and wouldn't make the apex 100%.
Shift yourself, all aids off (never even tried it otherwise), use a good gamepad (or wheel with minimum lock to lock, although I didn't try this, obviously).
I usually initiate via throttle, go near the red/white poles (20000 point when done correctly) and stay in combo by swaying left and right...

So, is this just a drifting game, or what? Is there any actual racing involved, like in previous Race Drivers?

Yes, and I actually prefer the other racing over the drifting. I especially like the BMW race.

They make non-wireless 360 controllers?

I had always figured there were all wireless like on the PS3.

Here's my best drift so far, 16 million in a single session.

Edit: wow, I see a 50 million point drift vid on YouTube, looks like I got to aim a lot higher.

Yes, they make non-wireless 360 controllers (USB), plus you can use the wireless ones on the PC too.

Oh sweet, maybe I need to pick up a wireless 360 controller for my PC. How much do they run?

$49 at amazon:

You may be able to find a better deal, but just make sure you get the one that comes with the PC wireless receiver.

But yeah, I love the 360 controller, especially the pressure sensitive triggers for racing games :D

This receiver? http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows/dp/B000HZFCT2/

And seems the black controller is cheaper: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Controller-Black/dp/B000OYITQO/

The white one I linked to comes with the receiver. Not sure if the black one does.

But yep, that's the receiver.

EDIT: It seems the controllers labeled "for Windows" come with the receiver.

Ooooh, didn't see that. Just saw the deal down below saying "buy this with the receiver and save $XX".

Yeah, Amazon is deceitful like that. Last time I bought some Creative 5.1 speakers, they tried to get me to bundle them with an adapter that comes with the speakers

We got 360 controllers from Kmart for a steal last year, they must of priced them wrong or something because they were only like $30 each for the wireless controllers and cheaper than their price for the wired ones. Of course they have it back to it's normal price now. :p

When I sawthe trailer, I was like, wow, must have it!
I download the demo, install it, and get a bit dissapointed.

Graphics are very demanding, my PC can't go on hihg detail :(

As for the game, the handling is...just bad! it's...wrong! Unless I play with hood or bumper cam, then it's allmost ok! Good thing i drive in that mode 90% of the time.

Drifting is interesting, my brother is going to love it :D

What I was most impressed with are the replays, the detail when crashing...amazing :D
And the flasback thingy, very useful :)
