I still don't get how he can make the car go so fast with that tap-tap-tapping. In racing school if we did that we'd get yelled at for upsetting the car.

Well... that technique was a habit that Senna had from the turbo days. He used to keep blipping the throttle through the corner to keep the turbo boost as high up as possible for a quick exit from the corner.

Peter Warr explained, years after Senna's death, that this technique was only discovered by the team in '87, when, of the four Honda-powered drivers, Ayrton kept being the one with the highest fuel consumption.



And what made him get away with that technique was his superhuman car control.
