Your Camera Equipment

lol and I have been actually looking at/for sigmas 70-200/2.8, when I suddenly found this thing. I was leaning towards 2.8 > 300mm, but this thing was quite a fair price and I do like the range better, as I have 70-135 already covered with my 18-135 STM (granted, not with f2.8). But being offered the 100-300/4 for 375? with shipping sealed the deal in favor of the 300. :D

ITS HERE! :D

And boy, its freakin huge. I knew the numbers, but apparently I was not able to imagine how big that fucker actually is .

A few crappy cell-pics. Its hard to take pics of the cam with it, with the cam :p. May add a few lens-only pics later.

I've switched over from my Oly E620 to a Nikon D600

Current equipment:
1x Nikon D600 body
1x Nikkor 50mm f1.8G

Soon to come:
1x Nikkor 35mm f/2D
1x Batt grip

Today I ordered the Sigma 30/1.4 and sold the Canon 50/1.8. I hope the Sigmas focus is perfect at the first try, or I have to use amazons great retour-service ;).

But but but, they just announced a redesigned 30/1.4 a couple weeks ago. It has sexy mtf curves and stuff! I was going to get a 30/1.4 until I found out about that. I think the new 35/1.4 was 2-3 months after announcement before it was available.

Anyways, I just ordered a 70-300L, Tamron 60/2 macro, and a Sony RX100.

The new Sigma 30/1,4 is exactly why I got the old one. The old one was listed for around 400EUR here, and the quality it delivered according to all sources was one I can very well live with. And now that Sigma announced the new one, the price of the old one dropped to less than 300EUR, partially hitting 275+shipping. And opposing to that, the new one has its first listings at a mere 580EUR, which is way more than I intend to spend on a 3rd party 30mm prime anyway, and there is just no way in hell its twice as good as the old one.

Hey, that's a good reason, price drop from the new model ;)

I got it today and did just some quick testshots inside, and I really like the focal length and the AF-speed. Did some rudimentary focus-test, and it seems quite ok, from what I can tell on the camera screen zoomed in, it mayyyy have a slight front focus of like 5 millimeters, but I have yet to get the pics on my computer. But it doesn't really seem a lot, and it might just be a false impression because thats what everybody says a Sigma will have :D.

As I today yet again was annoyed by the camera strap while handling the camera, I just ordered a Sunsniper Pro 2. I had been looking at it for a while but the retailprice of the v1 was rocksolid at 55ish and the new v2 clocked in at 60+. And even used ones were 40-45?. But today I found a dealer selling them for 49? and he has a 10% off code currently, bringing the price down to 44,45? with free shipping, so I just went for it as this thing will most likely not lose any value, ever.

Oh and if you are not familiar with what a Sunsniper is:

Well I think of this when you say sniper..

Why 35 over a 24? You already have a 50

Cost mainly... I plan to sell the 35mm once I have enough cash for something else but for now I'm happy with the 35 f/2D for all it's shortcomings :D

I've been recommended the Sigma 30 f1.4 too, which is much cheaper than the 35 f1.4 that I've been eyeing.

My personal list of favs for the stuff that I do would be...

17-35mm f2.8
50mm f1.4
70-200mm f2.8

Took my D600 with me on a recent outdoor landscape shoot trip. Used the 70-200 f4 a fair bit, really love the setup and quite lightweight

Oh well, looking at the figures that is actually light. My 7d with the 100-300/4 should be the same as your d600 + 70-200/2,8 so I understand the issue :D

first addition to the collection! :)

Why is the box of the tiny 50/1,8 so fucking huge? :p

A lot of wasted space with foam packaging, overkill so Nikon can avoid blame for any damaged merchandise still in the box.
