I?m so jumping this vs-thread-bandwagon ...

It?s the early 90ies ... I?m in puberty and these cars are the kings of the road, scaring sportcar-owners. The Power-Salon/high performance executive-cars of the early 1990ies ... with 6cylinders or more ...

Wich is your favorite? (I?ll give you a selection - add stuff that fits the category if you want) 6cyl+!

Isn't the RS6 a bit too new for this company? I'm not sure production from '02 to '04 would count as "early 90ies".

Anyway, E34 M5. Handbuilt (Might just be synonym for problems :p), manual, rear wheel at the back, big, revvy, glorious sounding straight six in the front. Just like a proper big fast saloon should be. Handsome but menacing front that reminds us from BMWs golden years doesn't hurt either.

Jaguar XJR6 with manual is also pretty nice idea, but I prefer my straight sixes naturally aspirated.

... we never got any of those here, I think ... only RHD-markets, were they not?

Probably, but I figured since they came out around that time too, might as well include them. BTW, did they make an Opel version of the Lotus Carlton?

Lotus Omega.

That's a horrible picture of a XJR. Here is one ripped from Spectre's XJR thread.

Er, that XJ40-based XJR was essentially just a suspension and appearance package. They didn't get blowers until the 1995 model year and the X300 chassis (released in 1994, so it may qualify). It was quite slow due to the added weight and no significant added power (it had a freer-breathing exhaust that added some ponies, but not many). Not in even remotely the same power or speed class as the M5 or E500.

No, that's actually the XJ40 XJR. We all want to forget it, and it didn't come to the US, but it did exist from 92-94. Same 223-230hp engine as the regular XJ6 with a couple of small tweaks to the breathing.

If you wanted the fastest Jaguar sedan in MY1990-1994, you had to buy an XJ12 (272hp until 93, which is when it got the 6L and went to 304-313hp). It sure wasn't the 'XJR.'

They did, however, obviously correct the problem with the X300. :D

Edit: To throw the proper pictures in for the power sedan battle-

1990 XJ12 (Yes, it was still the Series III carrying the V12 flag forward into battle until production finally ceased in 1992):

1993 XJ12 (aka the XJ81, produced 93-94):

Here's one wearing the much better looking sport lattice wheels off an XJS:

The power and ugly issue was later resolved, of course.
But I think that would be a mid-90s car, to be fair. So the early 90s XJR is out of it - and so is Jaguar unless you want to throw the two different XJ12s into the mix.

E34 M5 every god damned time.... still my all time favorite BMW.

As much as I love the E34 M5, I still have to go with the E500 because I think it looks so bad-ass. But if it were E39 vs W210 E50 AMG it would be a whole different story ofcourse :)

I know this wasn't available in America, but the E34 M5 3.8. The bigger kidney grills looked better too. :p

Ugh...there is too much XJ40 uglyness in this thread. Make it go away!

E34 M5 or the E500

Lotus Omega/Carlton or E500 for me.

I kinda like the XJ40.

Choosing between the E60 AMG and the Quattroporte is like choosing between arms.
