The "New Toys" Thread

While I'm sure those are really nice headphones, I could never stand using "over the ear" style headphones. My ears would always get hot and sweaty and so uncomfortable.

That's true.......but in the winter time the headphones can be used as earwarmers as well, an added bonus!! :p

Actually over-the-ear headphones are better for your ears, an ear specialist told me that.

I'm not going to lie, that's one of the main reasons I love the circumaural design - keeps the ol' ears warm! My ears don't sweat, either, so they work great.

I made the switch to in-ear headphones a while back, and now find the standard ones too big. I also hate the over-ear ones, they make your hair feel as if it has been all squashed when you take them off.

Guess what! Decided on getting this over the Mark III

Just got a new power supply.

I got it because my old one died . And its an upgrade to 500w from 400.

Also got confirmation that my new mouse has been dispatched...

Logitech MX1000

And should be ordering another GB of RAM soon.

Yeah. I decided that I needed to replace my old rollerball :(. So I decided that if you are going to get a mouse, it may as well be a bloody good one.

AKG headphones requires a lot of power to drive them to their full potential, definitely look into an external headphone amp.

The K240S is only 55 Ohms, easily driven by portable equipment. Other K240 variants were up to 600 Ohms, that's probably what you're thinking of.

I'll be getting an amp anyway, though. I just want to burn in the cans first and see what kind of sound I want from the amp.

Helio Ocean, the poor mans blackberry.
So far ive been really impressed with this "device". I love having my email/IM with me everywhere and the QWERTY keyboard makes messaging and browsing super smooth. Web is fast enough to check news feeds and check movie times. Things that upset me are the AIM notification that you can not disable without muting the entire phone and the shortcut keys are not able to be changed. I get better service than my previous verizon phone and the media player is very ipod like.

I think that looks like the cool man's blackberry. I don't like the blackberry's visible QWERTY. Makes it look cluttered.

Double vision. ;)

Heres some media player shots, showing the navigation and playing screen. The video player is identical except the progress bar and controls fade out.

I agree the ocean looks cooler than any blackberry, but if you need mobile power, RIM has the best devices. Technically they call Helios devices "featured" not "smart phones".
