Wow, was there anything that race didn't have? Great news to hear the Kubica is relatively okay - frightening crash. What a race for Hamilton to win - he had the measure of the field, but he had to work hard for it, again and again. Interesting to see Alonso have such a scrappy race. Also a great drive from Heidfeld. Terrific seeing a Williams on the podium, even though it was luck that got them there.

F1Racing are reporting Kubica has a broken leg - link - such a testament to how safe & strong the modern F1 car is.

Edit: For the Aussies - I can't believe McConville's up until 5am commentating when he's racing this afternoon.

Judging by Wurz's pace I'm thinking that the rear wing is really an optional extra on those cars... Having it shattered didn't really seem to do much to him.
 
Wow, what a race! Crashes, black flags, drama...and Hamilton's first win!

That was the best so far in the season by my scale.

Good on Britain for their driver and success in engineering this season :)

there was naff all left of his car when it came to rest. Martain kept saying he's moving his hands but i think really he'd put his hands up to brace himself and then got knocked out....he wasnt moving when the car came to a halt.

man, screw these new herman tilke circuits......... old school tracks FTW

Umm they are the same guys, it's just that not many people have SPEED (you have to pay) and they are explaining it to new viewers

BMW's test driver is Sebastian Vettel
 
On Kubica's condition: Bob Varsha announced on Speed TV that it was radioed to Hamilton that Kubica got away with just a broken leg. Varsha later then sort of retracted that statement saying that it's unconfirmed. Peter Windsor did report that he's conscious and even gave him a thumbs up sign. Well, at least we know the poor guy is alive!

Isn't he currently competing in the World Series by Renault Championship? BMW has said all along that they want him to prioritize that over his testing duties with the F1 team.

Well done Hamilton. He drove perfectly for the entire race, I didn't see one mistake. I think the pressure is getting to Alonso. Best race for years as well, just hope Kubica is OK.

honda must be absolutely kicking themselves.....last years car was a stormer today

yeah allen made lots of mistakes.

even said at the start that anthony hamiltons heart rate was 180 degrees. wtf

he also totally misjudged hamiltons crossing of the line. there was a huge pause while he was waiting to say " WINS!!!" but i guess hamilton slowed down alot

Kubica breaks leg in horror crash

Robert Kubica has broken a leg but is in a stable condition after a violent accident in Sunday?s Canadian Grand Prix.

Kubica?s BMW Sauber hit the right-rear wheel of Jarno Trulli?s Toyota on the 180mph approach to the hairpin on lap 27, launching it into a heavy impact with the concrete wall.

The BMW slewed across the track, rolled, and finally came to rest against the guardrail on the outside of the hairpin.

The race was immediately brought under the control of the safety car for the second time in the afternoon, before being restarted on lap 33.

The BMW team confirmed to ITV Sport's Louise Goodman that the Pole was stable.

And while manager Daniele Morelli could not confirm that Kubica was uninjured after visiting him at the medical centre he said: "He is conscious and I have talked to him.

"My impression is that he's fine. I have a good feeling for him."

Kubica was extracted from the car and taken to Montreal General hospital for further treatment where it was confirmed that he had broken a leg in the accident..
