It's out of stock at NewEgg, but I found it on sale through Google's shopping function. Liquid cooling, baby!

You sure you don't want a Core 2 Duo? The 6000+ is good, but a E6750 is preferable, though it is more expensive.

Nice case too, but pricey :)

Would've gone the Intel Core 2 Duo or the Quads personally (and did ;)), but I suppose at the end of the day it comes down to preference really.

Yeah, I decided to splurge on the case, I just figured it would be my primary computer case for the next decade or so. The other thing is that I really wanted something quiet, my current PC sounds like a jet when it starts up thanks to the massive f@^$in' heat-sink.

I thought about the Dual Core, but I didn't think the modest performance increase for the dual core was worth the cost.

It's more than just preference. Intel is ruling the performance charts right now. Here's good place to compare CPUs performance-wise:

Right on about the case :D

And yeah, it's not like the Intel Core 2 Duos are going to give you that much noticeable increase over what you're getting. I mean, the 6000+ is a monster in it's own right and it is dual core too. Plus you'd probably have to spend more on the motherboard if you went with a Core 2 Duo.

The PC is going to rock pretty hard man, congrats

Too late, I already ordered the items to take advantage of the Labor Day sales.

Considering I'm still running an AMD 2600+, this will be a hell of a leap.

The X2 6000 is a nice cpu, most people got 3.2-3.3ghz out of it easily. But I would've waited till Sept. 11 after AMD unveiled the server version of K10 before buying. If the K10 is very good, then you can go with the X2 6000, but if it sucked, you can just get the C2D now and not having to worry about it being obsolete.

I dont know about the Dell monitor. I got it, and its 'Ok'. It does not like VGA inputs at all (my Xbox 360 looks ugly on it) and the movie playback is ok. I would have gone for ultrasharp if I can do it again.

Yeah, the X2 6000+ is going to be a HUGE improvement man, and it's one of the top CPUs out there, so it should put a smile on your face :D

I also just got a new computer and i have that exact case that your looking at. It's big, It's heavy (25kg) but its sexy :p
oooh shiny blue leds :D

Another thing, the case isnt exactelly quiet.. its the loudest case ive had, Yes its liquid cooled but it has 7 fans.. ahem.

I am going to monitor the temp of the CPU under load for a while, I may disconnect some of the fans if they aren't needed.

Zuhaib, I had that same problem with my current Dell monitor on VGA. The solution is not to use VGA, not as though I have a choice - take a look at my graphics card.

Nice choice on the case, i have a Thermaltake myself. Still going strong after 5 years of loyal service, although it's a bit scratched (bare aluminium scratches easily) and the 80mm fans (7 of them) are getting a bit old-fashioned. I'm starting to think about replacing it with a newer, quieter model (it just sounds like high winds, no whine or any other sounds from the fans, just a lot of air moving). But it's not hard finding one with a similarly spacious interior.

As for the other components, they sure look like a good choice, hope you'll have a lot of fun with it.

Never wait, buy now. If you wait, something else will be in the works then you will want to wait for that and it just keeps going.

Blech, plastic case FTL

Should have gotten a Lian Li...

Never been a fan of thermaltake PSU's either. Their fans seem to go bad fast, and changing one in a PSU always makes me nervous.

Good mobo choice though, can't go wrong with Asus. Same for the HDD, that Raptor would be nice, WD FTW :)

all seems very good, except the case, don't really like the design :(. sorry

but the 6000+ is a good choice. i'm possibly thinking about swapping my 4200+ for one. will need a new mobo and DDR2 ram too though (939 atm). wonder how much i will get for the kit i have now. also might throw in a couple of samsung 500GB drives for RAID

anyway back to your PC. good choice on the video card, and 4 gig ram should be great. you'll really notice the speed :)

what are you doing as far as OS goes? vista? XP? 64 bit edition? please tell :D
