Awesome Thread... [Automotive Edition]

That would be Scott's car. IIRC he only runs the wing on the track. He mounted the wing so that he can open the trunk, undo a couple of bolts and it's off. The shot with the wheels in the passenger side of the car... he drove like taht all the way up PCH to Laguna seca to race (6 hour drive!)

Here he is in my rear view mirror on PCH.

Did I not post the pictures from the Miata's at MRLS trip? 25 of us from Southern California cruised up to Laguna seca to race for the weekend and then drove back.

Awesome... give my regards from Norway will you :p

The Hannibal Lecter of cars

It's probably a repost, but this is pure sex!

And then I found this...It's from Japan so I don't know what they are saying. But the driver is quite insane - taking a Countach in the rain to 180mph!!!

?It was the first occasion I realised just how good Jackie Stewart was. On our first lap he accelerated hard out of the last corner on to the main straight and the Tojeiro was hitting close on 140 mph when we hit the bump which was right on the start and finish line. There was an almighty crash and the Tojeiro actually left the ground by a few inches and then came down on the track again with a wollop and clearly the weight of an extra passenger had made all the difference.? ? Graham Gauld

The Tojeiro-Buick came out of a successful and stored collaboration between engineer and race car designer John Tojeiro and the famous Scottish privateer racing team Ecurie Ecosse, which had previously produced some seriously tweaked Jaguars loosely based on the D-type but with bespoke chassis. A few years and a few specials later, Tojeiro designed the -Buick, which was originally fitted with a Coventry Climax FPF motor and called the EE. With a Buick 215 subsequently hung out back, the T-B was apparently a brutish racer, definitely not the cream of the Ecosse team. Nonetheless, it?s a reasonably pretty car (at least from the front, where it resembles the hauntingly stunning Jaguar XJ13), and it was raced by Stewart himself and is eligible at Goodwood. And it?s for sale, POA, at Anamera (which is my new favorite addiction).

That thing is just awesome. And the fact that its a Buick (sorta) only makes it even more awesome.

Just imagine what an awesome spectacle it would've been.

I wish i could find a picture of the Lancia Grp. S engine. Twin turbo 1.7L inline 4. That motor was so fucking cool. 4 valves per cylinder in a diamond pattern with the 8 central valves for intake and the 4 valves each side for exhaust. The head castings must have been absolutely in-fucking-sane.

FOUND IT!!!

Wow, I never even new that this thing existed... It's... Beautiful...

Did it run ?, are there videos ?, I can't find anything.

Someone make a new one, I wanna see it go :-(

Everything i have read points to 600+bhp and 406lf/lb of torque. Supposedly those KKK turbos were virtually lagless because of their sizing. Makes me wonder though is that lagless compared with say a 1985 Porsche 911 turbo or lagless compared with say a VW 2.0FSi.

as for video i think we are SOL it never turned a wheel in anger infact both of my Delta books point to only 2 maybe 3 being built mostly for testing.

also i was wrong about the diamond pattern it was normal square pattern for the valves but each cam shaft operates both an intake and exhaust valve.

See.

That thing is pretty cool, but I can see why they got away from that. I can't imagine twin/parallel turbo's on a 4 cylinder being any advantage over a good single (especially for racing), even with the tech of the 80's. Just adding weight and more failure points.

I still want that though :D
