1966 MBZ 250SE (W108), 1987 BMW 535i (e28)
Got this car a couple days ago as a replacement for my E30 (never made a thread for that car...) that I wrecked back in May. So far I adore the damn thing. Its a 1966 purchased brand new in Germany and brought over here to Arizona in the 90s. I got it from the original owner making me the second owner of the car. Since its german spec it doesnt have all the silly US markers. Thank god for that, the car looks so much cleaner with out them. The car has its share of problems, the trans (automatic) is gonna go fairly soon, the gas gauge doesnt work, it came from the factory with AC but the unit stopped working so the PO pulled it out, the radio doesnt work, the paint could be a lot better (I think it may be the original paint) but other than that it runs like a champ. The best part of all was the price: $1325. When I saw the original ad for the car I thought for sure he mistyped but nope, thats all he wanted for it. Anyway, on to pics!

The tree came out of no where I swear

Do you have any Slovenian blood? ;)

Gorgeous car, and amazing pics. Now FFS don't wrap this one round any wayward lumber! If you do and you live there will be an FG lynch mob surrounding your hospital bed! :shakefist:

Still got it, was driving it inbetween when I crashed my BMW and when I got the merc.

I'm glad you all like the car, and I appreciate the compliments on the photography. Thanks everyone!

Hey, I have one a bit like that! I might have mentioned it once or twice before. :D How is it that the W108 is one of the most common cars to own here on Final Gear?

Yours looks pretty good, sounds from your description like it's pretty original too. '66 is very early. I had a '69 model and now a '71 model. I think the older ones have the most charm.

How many miles has it done? The transmissions are usually quite strong. Mine has done 149,996.4 miles and the trans is a little bit clunky but otherwise fine.

Don't fuck around with it too much, eh? Or cut holes in the interior to fit big speakers or some shit. In fact, don't fit a big stereo or mess with the electrics at all. And for the love of god, don't crash it! In fact, fuck it, just give it here, I'll take it and keep it safe. You wont enjoy it on as many levels as I do anyway.:p

EDIT:

It's running a bit hot. It should ideally sit at 175 pretty much all the time. It gets very hot here in Adelaide in the hight of summer and the temperature gauge can easily climb up higher when i'm stuck in traffic but that's really something to try to avoid if you can. If it's above 175 in flowing air, while you're on the move, there's probably some cooling issues that might need sorted. I flushed my radiator shortly after I bought mine and there was a marked improvement.

I always get nervous when the temp is climbing like that. It's surprising how quickly the pressure builds it can start dumping coolant at an alarming rate.

I can also see the odometer in that shot so uh, no need to tell me how many miles it's done now.:D

Do you know how many times it's gone around the clock?
