Gran Turismo 5

Not to be unduly optimistic, but that's not really confirming anything. Sony is denying it and saying it's a placeholder for one. For two, everyone's using a different placeholder.

If the date listed was December 28 or January 4 I'd take it as a bit closer to confirmation - games are always released Tuesdays, and I've talked to a few retailers who are so attuned to this that they don't even get game stock any other day. Also, nobody's open December 31 or January 1, bad day for a major release.

When I saw that on GTPlanet I counted how many discs are being made per minute, well 30 seconds but multiplied by 2, it's making well over 100 every minute. One would hope they are making them that fast or faster.

Got an email from Amazon today

We have received new release date information related to your pre-ordered video game in the order you placed on October 12 2010 (Order# xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx). The release date for the video game listed below has been changed by the publisher, and we want to provide you with a new delivery estimate based on the new release date:

"Gran Turismo 5 Collector's Edition"
Release date: December 31 2010
Estimated arrival date: December 31 2010

Because we were unable to meet our guaranteed delivery date promise, we are refunding the shipping charges for your entire order. This refund should be processed within the next few days, and we will send you an e-mail to let you know when the refund has been completed.

I ordered it with the guaranteed release date delivery option. IF the game actually does come out on the 31st, how will they deliver it? USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc. are all closed. Not that I case since they did give me a refund for the shipping. All $0.99 of it.

Well if the discs are being stamped and boxed now, you usually leave 3-4 weeks for a good initial production run, so we may have these in our hands mid-December.

But that's a total guess.

They even modeled the wrong engine placement (modified for James Bond: Casino Royale) on the 747 at Dunsfold. Wow. Higher res?

or they just couldnt/didnt wanna pay for get the rights to use a Boeing 747 in the game so they just made a generic looking big ass plane

Oh, here's a cool pic:

Does that mean it's possible to have all those cars on one track at the same time? That pic shows 96 freakin cars on one freakin track at the same freakin time. :jawdrop:

I'm sure that's just a shot used for promotion reasons. I don't think they could get that many on at once in the finished product.

Thats very un-GTish don't you think??

Could be a contract reason. I know Boing has one Ubisoft.
