^ Is that an Igor quote in your sig?
University Internet blocking Spotify.
I guess they want us to illegally download our music instead...
Good old University filtering. Mine blocks IRC so I can't even chat with people on another forum (they put one of those embeddable chat box thingers in a post...) because somehow I could "Gasp" send files/receive files!
Well, then...note to self: if Baylor really DOES expel me for no reason, Penn State sounds like the place to go...
Penn State is very, very cool about their official campus internet. The official policy is "No censorship WHATSOEVER." - you can literally look at porn in the labs and the worst the staff can do is ask you to move to a less busy spot.
I don't know if the same policies get applied to residence halls, though, because I've never known anyone who was stupid enough to actually live on campus
Fun Penn State fact: Penn State has issued more degrees than every other university still in operation in the United States COMBINED. Partially due to it being so stupidly old, partially due to it being so stupidly huge (on top of the primary campus, there are literally dozens of others).
It also holds the distinguished position of being the most expensive state school in the nation AND the least expensive private full-line university in the nation (Due to the stupid schitzophrenic relationship the state and university have - it's the official state University, but it's privately held and the state periodically decides to prove they don't have any obligation by removing any and all funding from revision 1 of the budget, causing a massive shitstorm)
I could never quite wrap my head around the odd one out status of PSU, whether it was really a state school or not. In Ship's Student Union, you won't find a PSU school banner hanging down with the other state schools.
I quite like mine. Food's good, coffee is good, and you can get caffeine (person fuel) at the same place you get car fuel. However, I am not one of those douchebags who parks at the pump, and I understand how to use the fucking automated ordering kiosks thereby not tying up the line.Petrol stations that ave been turned into cafes/convenience stores.
I can't remember the last time I used cash, let alone a check.Thats the other thing i hate, unless it's something hugely expensive i pay in cash. Give money, get change, go. If you have to wait while someone repeatedly swipes their worn out card, then blames the machine for not reading it, then takes ages to punch in their pin code, then wait while it gets approved. I dunno it just shits me.
We don't have those automated thingos. They have the same person who is the cashier also serving food and drinks at my local. Usually if i am getting petrol it is because i am on my way to somewhere and i hate waiting. I can see the convenience if it's late and no other shops are open.I quite like mine. I don't know anyone who uses cheques any more. Most cards are fine but i always seem to get stuck behind someone using a card that needs to be swiped 10 times in a very precise way before it works. I hardly ever use a card, the points aren't worth it for me, $150 is like less than half a days work. I have learned to be careful with credit, it's too tempting to spend money i don't have.I use a credit card, which earns me points that I use to get Best Buy gift cards. It's probably about $150 a year or so.
It goes wrong maybe once in two years or so, and it's generally about as fast as using non exact cash, and a lot faster than using a check.
